DSL MODEM APPARATUS AND DSL COMMUNICATION CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an interruption period of data communication by executing only training of an echo canceller without retrying all of initializing procedures on the occurrence of the necessity of retrying the training of the echo canceller after start of data communication. SOLUTION: The ADSL MODEM apparatus 2 in a subscriber's home or at a station side carries out communication control for DSL communication. When a communication error exceeds a prescribed value after start of data communication in this case, the ADSL MODEM apparatus 2 interrupts the data communication and transmits a request signal for requesting non-voice transmission to an opposite DSL MODEM apparatus 2, transmits a training signal when the opposite DSL MODEM apparatus 2 starts non-voice transmission to apply training to the echo canceller 36 provided to the own opposite DSL MODEM apparatus 2, and restarts the data communication after the end of the training.
