PURPOSE:To produce an indole compound difficult to be produced by conventional process and having an electron-attracting group such as alkoxycarbonyl group and dialkylsulfamoyl group as a substituent under extremely mild reaction condition in high yield and purity. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula V useful for the synthesis of indole compounds, alkaloids, etc., useful as pharmaceuticals, perfumes, cosmetics, etc., can be produced at a low cost by (A) reacting a compound of formula I (R<1> is H, Cl, Br, I, 1-4C alkoxy, 2-4C alkoxycarbonyl, benzyloxy or dialkylaminosulfamoyl; R<2> is H, 1-4C alkyl, aryl or heterocyclic aromatic group) with a compound of formula II (R<3> is alkyl; R<4> is allyl, methallyl or crotyl) in a solvent in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst or a palladium catalyst or (B) reacting a compound of formula I with a compound of formula III (R<5> is same as R<4>) and heating the resultant compound of formula IV in a solvent in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst or a palladium catalyst under stirring. |
