CATALYST FOR METHANOL AND DIMETHYL ETHER SYNTHESIS FROM SYNGAS AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF

A catalyst for simultaneously preparing methanol and dimethyl ether from synthetic gas and a method for producing the catalyst are provided to improve the conversion rate of the synthetic gas and minimize the production of byproducts, by constituting the catalyst to have small pores and large pores together. A porous catalyst includes Cu-Zn-Al-based oxide, which contains 30-45 wt% of CuO, 25-35 wt% of ZnO, and 20-45 wt% of Al2O3. The catalyst has a double pore structure where small pores having relatively small sizes and large pores having relatively large sizes exist simultaneously. The small pores have sizes of no less than 2 nm and no more than 20 nm, and the large pores have sizes of more than 20 nm and no more than 100 nm. Further, a whole surface area of the catalyst is 70 to 180 m^2/g.
