PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is provided with a light emission body having less power consumption than a back light on the back side of a liquid crystal panel to greatly reduce the power consumption when no input operation is performed by a user for a certain time. SOLUTION: The back light unit 14 has an LED 50 on the back side of the liquid crystal panel 8 in addition to the back light 2. When no input operation is performed for the certain time, a control unit 12 sends a control signal to a light emission adjusting circuit 11 to turn off the back light 2 and turns on the LED 50. Consequently, a screen saver operates only with the light of the LED 50 having much less power consumption than the back light 2. Accordingly, the power consumption by the back light 2 in the long-time absence of operation can greatly be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
