A vehicle collision detection device (1) that detects collision by an object into a vehicle bumper (7), on the basis of pressure detection results from a pressure sensor (4), and having: a bumper absorber (2) arranged inside the bumper (7); detection tube members (3, 31) attached to groove sections (2a, 21a, 22a) that are formed on a rear surface (2b) of the bumper absorber (2) along the vehicle width direction, said detection tube members having internal hollow sections (3a, 31a) and being arranged on the vehicle front side of a vehicle bumper reinforcement (9); and the pressure sensor (4) that detects pressure inside the hollow sections (3a, 31a) of the detection tube members (3, 31). The length (L1, L2) of the groove sections (2a, 21a, 22a) in the vehicle vertical direction is set to at least 0.9 times the length of the detection tube members (3, 31) in the vehicle vertical direction, when the detection tube members (3, 31) have been pressed in the vehicle front-rear direction and the hollow sections (3a, 31a) thereof have been completely crushed in the front-rear direction. |
