The present invention relates to a system for recognizing the plate number of a vehicle, in which a vehicle plate number recognition controller installed in each vehicle plate number recognizer is integrated to recognize vehicle plate numbers on a plurality of lanes with a single vehicle plate number recognition controller, and which can integrally control network cameras, network-based electronic displays, and network-based breakers on the lanes by using the single vehicle plate number recognition controller. The system comprises: a plurality of network cameras installed on each lane to capture an image of a vehicle plate number on a corresponding lane; and an integrated vehicle plate number recognition controller connected to the network cameras through a network to recognize the image of the vehicle plate number captured by the network cameras, and to control operations of the electronic display and a breaker based on the vehicle plate number recognition result. The system can receive images from the network cameras through the single vehicle plate number recognition controller to recognize vehicle plate numbers, thus reducing the cost of a parking lot management system.
