PURPOSE:To obviate loss of time in selecting a type on a type belt on which both symbol types and numeral types are provided and enhance printing speed, by a system wherein a printing position is matched sequentially to belts provided in multiple stages, and printing is conducted in the same line by the multistage belts. CONSTITUTION:A type member group comprises a plurality of type groups arranged in multiple stages along the feeding direction of a printing paper, and can be shifted in the direction of the stage. A type part 21 selected from the type member group is pushed out to the side of the paper 16, and the desired character is printed by striking the type part 21 by a hammer body 19. The hammer body is shifted up and down. a calculating part calculates the next paper feed quantity based on the position in the stage direction of the selected type part. The paper is fed in conjunction with the shifting action of the hammer body 19, and printing is conducted sequentially by the type belts 3a, 3b provided in multiple stages. Accordingly, loss of time in selecting the type can be obviated, and the printing speed can be enhanced. |
