PURPOSE:To produce an L-amino acid at a low cost, decreasing the organic acid content in the medium and improving the yield of the objective L-amino acid, by supplying the medium with oxygen having a concentration higher than the oxygen concentration in air. CONSTITUTION:A microbial strain belonging to Brevibacterium genus, Corynebacterium genus, Bacillus genus, etc., and capable of producing L-amino acid such as L-glutamic acid, L-lysine, L-glutamine, L-leucine, etc., is inoculated and cultured in a liquid medium for the production of L-amino acid. When the lactic acid content of the culture liquid has reached >=10mg/dl, the cultivation is carried out under the supply of an oxygen-containing gas having increased oxygen concentration compared with normal air to keep a lactic acid concentration in the culture liquid to 10-200mg/dl. The production of organic acid can be suppressed and the fermentation yield of L-amino acid can be improved by this process. |
