The golf putter for hitting a ball on a green has a plastics, steel or brass head (2) fixed to the bottom end of a wood or metal shaft (1). The hitting surface (4) of the head (2) runs parallel to the shaft's longitudinal axis. The head (2) has a roughly triangular base and is positioned across the shaft's (1) longitudinal axis. The sides (5,6) of the head (2) behind the hitting surface (4) are concave. The head (2) has a central hole (3) into which the shaft (1) is placed. The sole (7) of the head (2) has holes (8) in for a weight. The hitting surface is twice as long as the head is wide.
