PURPOSE: To obtain a new protein for imparting the aureobasidin resistance, having an amino acid which is located in a specific position of a protein for imparting the aureobasidin sensitivity having a specific amino acid sequence, substituted, inserted or deleted, retaining activities and useful, for genetic engineering breeding of a practical enzyme, analysis of genetic information, etc. CONSTITUTION: This new protein has an amino acid Ala which is located in at least the 240th position of the protein for imparting the aureobasidin sensitivity represented by the formula, substituted with another amino acid or the protein for imparting the aureobasidin resistance has an amino acid sequence obtained by carrying out at least one of substitution, insertion and deletion of an amino acid residue in the protein and is capable of manifesting biological activities equal to those of the protein. The protein is useful for especially genetic engineering breeding of a practical yeast and analyzing its genetic information. This protein is obtained by carrying out the site-specific mutation of a gene coding for the protein for imparting the aureobasidin resistance, substituting the Ala in the 240th position for another amino acid, integrating the resultant gene into a vector for a host fungus and expressing the gene in the host fungus. |
