PURPOSE: To obtain a water-base ink made proof against the clogging of a nozzle, etc., by specifying the total content of the fatty acids contained in the ink. CONSTITUTION: This water-base ink is one having a palmitic acid content of 0.2% or below, a methyl stearate content of 0.4wt.% or below and a total fatty acid content of 0.6wt.% or below and obtained by mixing 0.1-20wt.%, particularly about 0.3-15wt.%, water-soluble or water-dispersible dye with 0-95wt.%, particularly 20-50wt.%, at least one water-soluble organic solvent selected from among diethylene glycol, glycerol, triethylene glycol monomethyl ether, etc., and the balance of water, agitating the obtained mixture, filtering the mixture with e.g. a membrane filter, leaving the filtrate to stand at about 40 deg.C or above for about one day, cooling the filtrate to about 10 deg.C or below, leaving it to stand for about one day and re-filtering it with a membrane filter. This ink is used, and the ink in a recording head is given thermal energy. The formed ink drops are jetted against recording paper to form clear prints thereon. |
