The present invention relates to a polypeptide for use as a medicament in the treatment and/or prevention of a disease wherein the RANKL-RANK signaling pathway is involved, in particular a bone resorptive disease.

A method of treating a bone resorptive disease selected from the group consisting of osteoporosis, osteolytic bone disease, primary bone cancers, secondary bone cancers, periodontal disease, and rheumatoid arthritis, comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an isolated polypeptide consisting of a sequence of up to 14 amino acids, wherein said sequence comprises a sequence selected from the group consisting of:
(a) SEQ ID NO:1; and (b) a sequence having at least 80% of identity with SEQ ID NO:1 after global alignment over the entire length of the sequence with SEQ ID NO:1.
