PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the capacity of character ROM compact by erasing patterns which are set on sprite faces and are superimposed on a background face, on a displayed page, and at the same time, making it possible to display the pattern shown on the background in the erased part of the displayed page. SOLUTION: A finally displayed page appearing finally on a liquid crystal display part is composed of data from a background face 11 and data, from plural sprite faces 12 which are displayed in a superimposed fashion to that the sprite faces display data in the preferential display order starting with the farthest sprite face from the background face 11. Each sprite face 12 consists of a combination of plural tiles arranged in rows. On the other hand, when the patterns of the sprite faces are superimposed on the background face 11 for display, it is so controlled that the displayed patterns appearing on each sprite face 12 arranged beyond the preferential display order are erased in the units of the tile face, and only the pattern of the background face 11 is displayed in the erased part. |
