Cooling ribs 16 and a fan 19 may be mounted on the shaft for cooling the evaporative areas and the shaft may be formed of various materials to give zones of differing thermal conductivity. Hollow cylinders may be coaxially mounted within the shaft to separate the vapour and liquid streams, and the cooling ribs may be replaced by a cooling fluid flowing through coils at both ends of the tube.</p> |
