PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for detecting the width of an inclusion in a rolling material accurately using ultrasonic flaw detection method or leakage flux method. SOLUTION: When an inclusion 2 in a rolling material 1 is inspected by ultrasonic flaw detection method or leakage flux method, the rolling material 1 is scanned a plurality of times on the opposite sides of an assumed inclusion 2 while varying the angle θ with respect to the rolling direction and the with d0 of inclusion in the rolling material 1 is calculated based on the number of times of scanning, the angle θ between the scanning direction and the rolling direction 3, and a detected length (y). With such a method, true width of the inclusion 2 can be determined accurately from the width obtained by scanning and the quality management of rolling material 1 can be carried out easily and accurately in the manufacturing process. |
