1530756 Applying screw caps ALBERT OBRIST AG 17 June 1977 7 [22 June 1976] 25421/77 Heading B8T In a screw-cap applying apparatus a rotating head 1 grips by wedging a cap 5 with deformable crown in order to apply it, the crown of the cap being simultaneously contacted by a downwardly spring urged plunger 8a, the arrangement being such with a predetermined upward deformation of the cap crown as the crown contacts the upper edge of container 6, Fig. 2 (not shown), head 1 is lifted via plunger 8a and stop 14, Fig. 5 (not shown), and the screwing- on operation is thereby interrupted. Plunger 8a may be vertically adjusted by screwing. Instead of mechanical control of the screwing-on operation, as shown, the control may be hydraulic, pneumatic or electric as a result of sensing cap-crown deformation. |
