PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity and durability by forming a photosensitive layer containing at least one kind of specified asymmetric squarium compounds on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer formed on the conductive substrate contains at least one kind of the asymmetric squarium compounds represented by formula I in which one of Ar1 and Ar2 is selected from formula II and the other is selected from formulae III-V; each of R1-R4 is H, halogen, alkyl, hydroxy, or the like; R5 is alkyl; Ar3 is a naphthyl, anthranyl, condensed polycyclic group or the like; each of R8, R9, and R11 is alkyl or phenyl; each of R10, R12, and R14 is H, hydroxy, methyl, carboxy, or the like; and each of R13, R15, and R16 is H, alkyl, hydroxy, alkoxy, carboxy, alkoxycarbonyl, or the like, thus permitting sensitivity and durability to be enhanced. |
