PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element from which a multi-domain effect can be obtained without arranging an open area. SOLUTION: This multi-domain liquid crystal display element is comprised of a 1st substrate and a 2nd substrate opposed to each other, plural gate wiring and data wiring defining pixel areas vertically and horizontally formed on the 1st substrate, a pixel electrode 13 formed so as to have electric field inducing windows 51 in the pixel area, a common auxiliary electrode 15 enclosing the pixel region in the same layer as the gate wiring layer, a gate insulating film formed on the entire 1st substrate, a protective film formed on the gate insulating film on the entire 1st substrate, a shading layer formed on the 2nd substrate, a color filter layer formed on the shading layer, a common electrode formed thereon, an aligned film formed on at least one of the 1st and 2nd substrates, and a liquid crystal layer formed between the 1st and 2nd substrates. |
