PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder enabled to know replacing or cleaning time by equipping a means for determining the functional deterioration of a paper feeding roller and a separating member in a using state. SOLUTION: In this paper feeder for supplying paper to a paper feeding route via the separating member from a sheet rack by rotation of the paper feeding roller, the paper feeder is equipped with a determining means for determining replacing or cleaning time of the paper feeding roller or the separating member by whether or not a time difference between a driving starting signal of the paper feeding roller and a detecting signal of a sensor arranged in the paper feeding route and detecting the starting end of the paper exceeds a range of a required error (allowable difference time).
