PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hardening resin composition for a liquid crystal display element capable of manufacturing the liquid crystal display element which does not occur a liquid crystal display defect and has high reliability since deviation in position of upper and lower substrates is hardly generated after photothermal hardening, especially even when linear expansion coefficients of the upper and lower substrates are different from each other in the manufacture of the liquid crystal display element, to provide a sealing material for the liquid crystal display element, to provide a vertical conduction material, and to provide the liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: In the sealing material for the liquid crystal display element containing a hardening resin having a (meth)acrylate group and an epoxy group, a photoradical polymerization initiator and a thermosetting agent, a photoset product has≥80°C glass transition temperature and≤2.0×10<SP>-4</SP>mm/mm/°C maximum value of the linear expansion coefficient in 0 to 150°C temperature range.
