PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new indole compound expressed by a specific formula, excellent in antioxidant function, having high stability and useful for preventing and curing arteriosclerosis, etc. SOLUTION: The objective indole compound is expressed by formula I, preferably by formula II. The objective compound can be obtained, e.g. by washing Martensia denticulate Harvey, a seaweed belonging to Delesseriaceae, and slightly wringing water from the seaweed, extracting the seaweed with a mixture solvent of chloroform/-methanol (3/1) and chloroform respectively for about one weak at the room temperature, distilling the solvent off, dissolving the residue in distilled water together with a freeze-dried product of wrung water, extracting with 1-butanol, removing insoluble substance from the obtained butanol fractions, and fractionating to obtain an extract which is further purified. |
