PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reversible thermal recording medium utilizing a color former such as a fluorane compd. and a coupler having a long chain aliphatic group, not generating color forming inferiority or the deterioration of an image with the elapse of time and capable of repeatedly forming a sharp recording image for a long time. SOLUTION: In a reversible thermal recording medium wherein a recording layer containing an electron donating color forming compd. and an electron acceptive compd. as main components and capable of forming a developed color state and an erased color state relatively by the difference of heating temp. and/or a cooling speed after heating and a protective layer a laminated on a support, an intermediate layer is provided between the recording layer and the protective layer using a water-soluble resin and either one of or both of polyacrylic acid and a metal salt thereof and polyacrylaide are added to the water-soluble resin of the intermediate layer.
