发明名称 JOINTS FOR CONNECTING PIPES
摘要
1279169 Pipe connections SOC INTERNATIONALE D' APPLICATION DE PROCEDES INDUSTRIELS (SIAPI) SA 19 Nov 1970 [3 Dec 1969 21 April 1970 10 June 1970] 55037/70 Heading F2G A resilient sleeve 5 (see Fig. 2) has circular throats 6, 7 at each end, each throat being bounded by a pair of lips 9, 10, and a central portion 12 whose wall thickness is greater than the remainder of the sleeve 5 except for the lips. When used to connect two adjacent plain pipe ends of pipes 1, 2 the sleeve 5 is sized such that the lips are of smaller diameter and the portion 12 of the same diameter as the outside diameter of the pipes. The lips 9, 10 and portion 12 sealingly engage the pipes 1, 2. The portion 12 may be lifted from contact by fluid pressure in the pipes 1, 2 and fluid then will fill the annular space 6 between the inner lips 10. A cover 14 may be provided about the sleeve 5 and space 19 provided for movement of the latter on connecting the pipes. Space 20 permits easy connection of the pipes and sleeve. The cover 14 may be made in two semi-cylindrical parts (14a, 14b), Fig. 3 (not shown), joined by pegs (15) fitting in grooves (16). The cover 14 has stops 17, 18 at its ends firmly clamping the sleeve 5 to the pipe. Alternatively, Fig. 4 (not shown), each end stop may be secured to or made as one piece with a rigid sleeve, two of such sleeves being joined by an annular collar to cover the sleeve 5. In a further embodiment, Fig. 6 the sleeve 36 having lips 38, 38a, 39, 39a and enlarged centre portion 40 the inner lips 38, 38a are longer than the outer lips 39, 39a and define cavities 44, 44a. A cover 43 with end stops is also provided. The embodiment of Fig. 5 (not shown) is similar but in Fig. 6 when the direction of fluid flow is shown as indicated by the arrow F the lip 44a is shorter than the lip 44 so that if the fluid pressure surges the section 40 lifts out of sealing engagement as in the other embodiments, but further the lip 44a is sufficiently short to permit the excess fluid to enter the area between lips 38a, 39a and thus escapes. When the pressure reduces the lip 44a on account of its resilience returns to the position shown in Fig. 6. The lip 44a thus acts as a safety valve. The sleeve 5 may be of natural or synthetic rubber and the covers of plastics or metal.
