1325924 Diglycerides UNILEVER Ltd 19 April 1971 [6 March 1970] 10869/70 Heading C2C Fatty acid diglycerides are prepared by reacting a glycidyl ester of a fatty acid (2-22C) with a free fatty acid (2-22C) in the presence, as a catalyst, of a quaternary onium salt. The salts may be quaternary phosphonium or ammonium salts and ammonium salts such as tetraalkylammonium or trialkylbenzylammonium or alkyl or benzylpyridinium salts are preferred. Many are listed. The reaction may be with or without solvents and the product purified to a 1,3-glyceride. Triglycerides may be obtained by further esterification. Examples describe the preparation of 1-palmitoyl-3-stearoylglycerine, 1,3-dipalmitoylglycerine, 1-3,distearoylglycerine, and 1,3 dioleoylglycerine, and the triglyceride 2-oleoyl-1-palmitoyl-3-stearoylglycerine from the mixed diglyceride.
|
