The throw-away container receives the needles of disposable syringes, and comprises a housing (1) enclosed on all sides. It has an opening (6) of limited diameter, into which the needle (8), having a thimble (7) clamped on its neck (9), is inserted after use. A catch (17) at the opening engages behind the thimble to pull the needle off so that it drops into the housing. The container can be circular or rectangular, with the opening and catch in the top (3).
