<p>PURPOSE:To shorten latency time by instructing the start of a demount operation to the automatic loading mechanism of a magnetic tape immediately after receiving a demount instruction sent out from a host device after completing a rewind operation. CONSTITUTION:An unload instruction with respect to a deck part 31 on which a targeted medium is loaded is sent first from the host device 2 to a magnetic tape controller 1. Thereby, the magnetic tape controller 1 sends out a rewind instruction and the unload instruction to the deck part 31 over again. The rewind operation of the magnetic tape is started in the deck part 31, and the controller 1 issues the completion report of the unload command to the host device 2 immediately after that. The host device 2 sends out the demount instruction to the automatic loading mechanism 33 of a library type magnetic tape device 3 when receiving an asynchronous interruption report detecting a BOT. Thereby, it is possible to efficiently perform the demount operation by reducing the latency time.</p> |
