The invention relates to a vessel of artificial stone and method for the production thereof. By means of the invention, the vessel of artificial stone is improved so as to be visually indistinguishable from a vessel of genuine natural stone, and as a result is suitable for design and decorative purposes in the open air (garden) or indoors (reception halls, exhibitions). To produce the vessel, a form, particularly an inner form, is designed so as to be assembled quickly without much trouble. After the artificial stone mix in the form has reached a consistency in which it can be worked, the form is dismantled and removed quickly by releasing the clamping device. Further mechanical treatment of the vessel of artificial stone is carried out while the artificial stone mix is still in a stiffly viscous, not yet hard state.
