Input system to provide a sewing machine with stitching pattern data, in the form of coordinates, has an initial unit to read the sewing pattern. Two indicators show the multiplication scales in the X and/or Y axes on the pattern and the stitch length alterations or needle count changes for the pattern. The final unit increases or decreases the coordinate values according to the stitch length or needle change indications and the multiplication scales. This gives the division of stitches between the needle insertion points and the direction change points, using quotients which are rounded up to a whole number.
