PURPOSE:To detect abnormal sucking generated in the thickness direction of matter to be detected and the directional error generated in a horizontal plane, by blocking light by the matter itself to be detected and comparing the abnormality of a thickness and a length in each direction with data preliminarily inputted. CONSTITUTION:A sensor part 12 measures the thickness and length of adsorbing matter 1 and sends the measured data to an amplifier 13. At the same time, the parts number thereof is sent to a comparing value memory circuit 16 from the controller 14 of a mount machine main body through an input circuit 15 and the memory part 16 sends out the standard data of the corresponding thickness and length. These two data are compared with each other by an operational processing part 17 and the judgement result is sent to the controller 14 of the mount machine main body through an output circuit 18. By this mechanism, the matter 1 to be detected held by a suction nozzle 4 enters between a light source 20 and sensors 22, 23 to block light and compared with data preliminarily calculated by the operational processing part 17 through the sensor part 12 to discriminate whether the matter to be detected is sucked, the sucked posture thereof is normal or, further, said matter is parts concerned.
