PURPOSE: A method of processing a protection protocol using V5.2 is provided to switch the communication path where a communications difficulty arises not to affect all the users connected. CONSTITUTION: In a method of processing a protection protocol using V5.2, in step (202), whether a link error has occurred is checked. In step (204), when an error occurs, a matching network sends a request for a link switch-over to a switch. In step (206), a new communications path is configured with a reserved link after cutting off the link with an error. In step (208), information about a newly configured communications path is sent to the controller of the V5.2 subscriber. In step (210), a V5.2 matching controller sends the communications path information to the matching network. In step (212), the matching network reconfigures the communications path with the received information.
