PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and precisely weld a plurality of workpieces by inserting a probe in a heated joining part of a workpiece and rotating the probe, while keeping a predetermined quality. SOLUTION: The probe 1 whose tip is inserted in the workpiece is rotated by a driving means 4, while being separated from a shoulder 2. The probe 1 is supported with a lower and upper bearings 5 and 6 and stored in the shoulder 2. The rotation of the shoulder 2 is restrained, but the shoulder may be rotated by providing a shoulder rotating means. The vertical movement of the probe 1 is restrained in the shoulder with a pushing plate 9. A heater 3 is wound around the outer surface of lower part of the shoulder 2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
