A method for providing a location service of a mobile terminal in a wireless mobile communication system comprises the steps of: generating overlapping circles of respective base stations by using distances between a mobile terminal and the respective base stations as radii to estimate the distance between the mobile terminal and the respective base stations based on the time of arrival (TOA) of signals transmitted to the mobile terminal from the serving base stations distributed to preset locations in a network; acquiring a plurality of straight lines extending from a plurality of preset intersection points in intersection coordinates formed by the circles, which are generated around the respective base stations to be overlapped with each other, to connect the preset intersection points; and determining the location of the mobile terminal by computing the intersection points between the acquired straight lines. The method of the present invention can perform location estimation with high accuracy by using a line intersection algorithm. |
