PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dye a polyester-based fabric in a natural color tone without causing strength deterioration of fabric, by pretreating the polyester-based fabric with an aqueous solution of a prescribed metal salt compound and dyeing the fabric with a natural dye. SOLUTION: A fiber fabric of a polyester copolymerized with an alkali metal salt of 5-sulfoisophthalic acid is treated with a mordant in an aqueous solution of a basic aluminum acetate shown by the formula, Al2 O(CH3 CO2 )4 or Al2 (OH)(CH3 CO2 )2 and/or a sulfate shown by the formula, MAl(SO4 )2 (M is an alkali metal or ammonium) such as potassium alum, sodium alum or ammonium alum of 0.1-10 equivalents, preferably 0.8-5 equivalents of the 5- sulfoisophthalate at 100 deg.C for 60 minutes and washed with water. Then the fabric is dyed with a natural dye such as madder or gardenia crest at 60-100 deg.C. |
