1336825 Coating glass by vapour deposition SAINT-GOBAIN 3 May 1972 [3 May 19711 20622/72 Heading C7F [Also in Divisions B5 and G2] Glass is coated by vapour deposition with a layer of Au, Ag, or Cu or alloys thereof and then a layer of Al. A further layer of silicon monoxide may be applied. In an example an Au-8% Ni alloy may be used. The glass may be first cleaned with a suspension of cerium oxide in ethylene alcohol. The thickness of the coating is controlled by monitoring the reduction of the coefficient of luminous transmission of the glass, during deposition. |
