<p>Bale-loader consists of a continuous slanting conveyor on the outside of which are a number of implements for picking up bales. On each side of the continuous conveyor are pieces extending the length of the conveyor to support the bale on each side, and to unload it onto a second and third continuous conveyor. The second conveyor has plates to turn the bales around a pin on the third continuous conveyor. The three conveyors are driven by the one shaft, with the first conveyor operating faster than the other two. The first conveyor runs over gear wheels driven by a shaft. The chains forming the conveyor have metal spikes regularly spaced over their top surface. On each side of the conveyor are edge-pieces reinforced at the front by a cross-piece, on which the drive-wheels are mounted. A curved metal rod is fixed onto the edge-pieces. A plate rests on the front side of the rod and pivots by means of springs on an axle at right angles to the chains.</p> |
