A stabiliser for a moving web of paper, especially thin and easily damaged webs of eg. tissue, one side of which is made to travel past a fixed measuring region containing a device for measuring a property such as thickness, basis weight or moisture content, or alternatively the web is treated in this region. The stabiliser comprises a combination of a measuring plate (1), a straightening plate (2) surrounding the measuring plate and forming an air gap (S) around the periphery of this plate, and a device (8) for blowing compressed air through the gap. The web is kept straight as it passes over the measuring plate. |
