<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a compression condition of a picked-up image depending on an operation state. SOLUTION: A signal indicating the operation of an operator with respect to an operation device 30 such as a zoom control signal is fed to a CPU 28 via a setting circuit 32. The setting circuit 32 judges the image pickup state depending on the operation state of the operation device 30 to set how high compression rate is to be selected for a picked-up image. In the case of zooming when an input for a prescribed time or over is received, the setting circuit 32 decides the compression rate as follows: that is, the compression rate is set higher from a start point of zooming in the case of zooming toward the telescopic position and a proper compression rate is decided in response to the zoom manipulated variable this time when the zooming is finished and the compression rate is kept set for a prescribed period after the end of zooming. When no zooming is conducted for a prescribed time after the end of zooming, a usual compression rate is selected. The compression rate is tentatively set lower in the case of zooming toward the wide position.</p> |
