PURPOSE:To reduce parenthesis misinput in a programming language or the like by providing a display means on which the enclosure of data in parentheses is displayed. CONSTITUTION:If a key code is a left parenthesis code when this key code is inputted from a keyboard 1, a CPU 2 reads a current attribute and reads an alpha-RAM address as a current cursor position and registers these attribute and alpha-RAM address in a left parenthesis information register stack 4, and a left parenthesis is displayed blinkingly on a CRT 7. If the input code is a right parenthesis code, the information of the attribute and the position related to the last inputted left parenthesis is read out from the left parenthesis information register stack 4, and this left parenthesis information is used to stop blinking of the left parenthesis on the alpha-RAM, and blinking of the innermost left parenthesis on the CRT 7 is stopped, and a right parenthesis is displayed through an echo back display routine S7 by the right parenthesis processing. Thus, parenthesis misinput is reduced.
