A switch lever for a multi-chamber filter, in which the individual chambers are alternately loaded by actuating the switch lever for acting on a switch valve, has a stop device, which prevents undesired switching and which can be released by the operator for the switching operation, and an actuator intregrated in the lever handle for activating an auxiliary valve for equalising pressure difference between the individual filter chambers adjoining the common switch valve. The stop device (6,8) of the switch lever (1) is connected to the actuator (4) of the auxiliary valve so that the stop device is only unlocked when the auxiliary valve is activated. ADVANTAGE - The operator only requires one hand for simultaneous unlocking of the switch lever, activation of the auxiliary valve for depressurisation of the switch valve, and operation of the switch lever.
