PURPOSE:To make picture-in-picture possible with simple configuration only of similar digital processing from CIF format processing by generating a small picture by data after making CIF format. CONSTITUTION:A video signal read from a memory 3 is converted into a common intermediate format CIF by a CIF conversion circuit 4 and stored in a memory 5 and an H.261 encoder circuit 6 encodes the data and the result is sent to the other party and down-sampled by a small picture generating circuit 13 to prepare a desired small pattern. Picture code data from the other terminal equipment party are converted into CIF data of the other party by a decoder 7 and written in a memory 8 along with an own side picture data from the small pattern generating circuit 13, decoded and displayed on a monitor 12. Thus, the picture-in-picture is realized by a simple hardware of only digital processing independently of each television signal system. |
