PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser device which is applied to an optical head device, of which cost and manufacturing processes can be reduced, and further, which shows little fluctuation of the wavelength of an emitted light caused by temperature change. SOLUTION: A semiconductor laser (laser chip 53) applied to an optical head has a monitoring photodetector 57 which is provided on a photodetector mounting plane 51c in parallel with the laser chip mounting plane 51c of a heatsink 51 and monitors the light intensity of a laser beam L emitted by the laser chip 53 and a prism mirror 54 which includes a transmitting reflective film 54a which bends a laser beam emitted by the laser chip 53 in a direction toward an optical disc. The heatsink 51 absorbs heat radiated by the laser chip 53 through a submount and discharges the heat to a housing. With this constitution, a laser device which has a high heat radiation efficiency and shows little fluctuation of the wavelength of an emitted light can be provided. |
