PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a video display device capable of 3D (stereo-scopic) video display with the small quantity of information by projecting a video having a binocular parallax at the centers of the respective right and left visual fields of an observer and projecting a video having no the binocular parallax in the vicinity of the periphery thereof. SOLUTION: A video having a binocular parallax is projected in the vicinity of the centers of the respective right and left visual fields of an observer and the video having no the binocular parallax is projected in the vicinity of the periphery thereof. Thus, the video having parallax information is projected in the vicinity of the center of a screen and the video having no the parallax information is projected in the vicinity of the periphery by the respective picture display elements displaying the videos for a right eye and a left eye. Namely, since a human being does not feel a sense of incongruity so much with respect to the video on the periphery of the visual field even without detailed information from the viewpoint of a human sense, the video information is reduced without spoiling the 3D sense of the observer, recording capacity and a transmitting speed are decreased and the cost is reduced. |
