<p>1301314 Ejectors; strippers DAYTON PROGRESS CORP 4 Sept 1970 [8 Sept 1969] 42475/70 Heading B3W An ejector pin 21, spring-urged to project from a punch 14, has a urethane or other resiliently deformable pad 26 mounted, e.g. adhesively, below a head 22 for cushioning engagement with a shoulder 18 in the punch bore 17. A skirt 28 defines with the body of the pad an annular groove 27 in which air is trapped during upward movement of the pin relative to the punch during a punching stroke to be forced downwards during downward movement of the pin relative to the punch during the return stroke to assist ejection and keep the punch bore clear. The groove 27 communicates with the portion 16 of the bore through radial grooves 29 in the lower face of the pad. Openings 19 are provided in the punch wall for insertion of keepers 43 to retain the pin in raised position during grinding of the working faces of the pin and punch.
