1,068,951. Winding stators. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Nov. 26, 1963 [March 14, 1963], No. 46643/63. Heading B3A. [Also in Division H2] To facilitate winding a dynamo electric machine stator the slot insulation is extended to cover the mouth of the slots and built up to provide a funnel-shaped guide portion. In the case of a salient pole machine, Fig. 1 (not shown), the insulation under the coil is extended to cover the sharp edges of the poles. Thermoplastic insulation is used and after winding, the guide portions are removed preferably by inserting a hot mandrel in the bore. The melted material will thinly cover the inner surface of the core and flow into the mouths of the slots, thereby eliminating the need for slot wedges. Axial projections from the ends of the core may be provided to keep the winding in the correct form, these projections may be axial extensions of the guide portions. |
