A nail which may be of steel comprises a member of I cross-section having a flat web 1 and flanges 2, the web 1 being provided with a V-shaped recess 4 which defines points 6 at one end of the web 1. The flanges 2 may have curved outer faces and the V-shaped recess 4 may be defined by knife-edges 7.
