A device is described for resting and supporting tyres on a shelf unit having horizontal longitudinal and transverse struts which are attached to the vertical supports of the shelf unit. In order to allow a type of adjustable shelf on a shelf unit with the best lighting of the surfaces of the tyre which are of interest depending on the diameter of the tyres to be displayed for sale, according to the invention two angular cross members are provided as longitudinal struts, which are attached releasably to the vertical supports and are held against one another at the front face side of the shelf unit by means of a front strut mounted between them with the spacing of the width of the shelf unit. Additionally, provision is made for a rear transverse strut to be held adjustably on the cross members and for a bar made of hard transparent material with a higher refraction coefficient than air (glass) to be attached along the front transverse strut and, in visual connection with said bar, for a lamp to be arranged below the bar and behind the front transverse strut. The angle of the cross members allows a good load-bearing capacity with little use of material. The cross members are firmly connected to one another only at the front with the aid of the front transverse struts. The rear transverse strut is provided so as to be adjustable towards the front transverse strut.
