PURPOSE:To protect the circumference of a build-up part against a laser beam by the bright surface and to prevent the deterioration of the base metal around the build-up by working the circumference of the build-up part to the bright surface having high laser beam reflectivity prior to the irradiation of the laser beam. CONSTITUTION:The build-up part is the surface of a metallic member and the shape thereof is optional such as circular, rectangular, belt-like and annular shapes. A building-up material is generally a metal of the kind different from the base metal and is supplied in the form of powder or bar to the build-up part. The irradiation of the laser beam is executed by an optional method using a laser beam processing machine. Electrolytic polishing, machining, etc. are used for working the circumference of the build-up part to the bright metallic surface and the surface is finished to about the extent at which the laser beam can be efficiently reflected. The beam diameter is determined at such a size at which the beam does not protrude from the bright metallic surface. The build-up part is therefore protected against the laser beam by the bright surface and the irradiation of the laser beam only to the build-up part is made possible. |
