PURPOSE:To apply a requested soft focus process on an image data by providing a soft focus data generating means which performs a prescribed arithmetic based on the image data and an image filter data, and generates a soft focus data. CONSTITUTION:A filter generating controller 30 makes off all of corresponding image filter data bits on which no filtering are applied. An image filter generating area 40 is a storing area for the image filter data supplied through the filter generating controller 30, and has the same capacity as that of an objected image data. A V-RAM 50 is a RAM which stores a prescribed dot pattern of image data, however, when the execution of the soft focus is requested through an input (a) to a CPU 10, the soft focus process of the image data is executed with a soft focus control part 60 based on the image filter data within the image filter generating area 40.
