PURPOSE:To prevent any damage or separation to or from a honeycomb heater from occurring by holding this honeycomb heater on a can body via a holding member, installing an insulating part in each of these connecting parts, while providing a vertical displacement absorbing function and a gas flowing displacement fixing function jointly in the holding member. CONSTITUTION:This heater unit is composed as a honeycomb heater 12 made up of forming a slit 11 in a metallic honeycomb structure 10, by way of example, and a groove 13 is formed in this circumferential part. In addition, an annular part 14 in a half annular holding member 16 is fitted in this groove 13. At this time, an insulating coat 17 is precovered on a surface of the annular part 14. In succession, in order to connect the honeycomb heater 12 and the holding member 16, a jointing material is used. Further this heater unit is held in a metallic can body, locking a leg part 15 of the holding member 16 to this can body. With this constitution, the holding member 16 is subjected to thermal expansion as the honeycomb heater 12 is made into this thermal expansion in time of high temperature, while this heater 12 is fixed tight in coping with the gas flowing displacement. |
