PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reproducing sound data and still picture data from a recording medium. SOLUTION: The sound data are collectively recorded on a recording area of the sound data, and the still picture data corresponding to a still picture reproduced during sound reproduction of each track are collectively recorded on the recording area of the still picture data. As individual track control information, the control information including designation information on the total (still picture group) still pictures for every individual track and the information on a group with the designation of the specific still picture and the designation of timing of display in the still picture group is recorded on a TOC area. The still picture data during storage into a memory 5 for still picture data are stored also after completion of reproduction operation about the selected track, the storage operation to the memory 5 from an optical disk is made not to be performed in cases where the still picture group in the track control information of a reproduction track selected next is judged to be the same as the still picture group stored by the memory 5.
